Bethany in Ghana

We support vulnerable children and families
We’re known for setting the pace for formalized foster care and family-based care programs in Ghana. We partner with area orphanages, police officers, and hospital social workers who know they can call Bethany when they urgently need a safe place for a child.
And we work closely with UNICEF and Ghana Without Orphans to champion family-based care.
Our services
Family preservation and empowerment
The Family Preservation and Empowerment program is designed to support families and children by stabilizing heads of families and caregivers and empowering them to reach self-sufficiency. We provide families with essential nutrition, medical aid, access to education, psycho-social support, and housing needs.
Foster care
When a child is not able to remain with their family, we help open the door to a safe, stable, and nurturing home for them. We partner with local churches, communities, and the government to identify, train, supervise, and support foster families to be the answer for children in need.
Adoption
Family-based care offers a proven solution to protect vulnerable children. When children are not able to reunite with their families, we seek adoptive families. We help prospective adoptive families navigate through the process, offer professional guidance, and ensure parents are prepared to welcome children into their home.
Training and capacity building
We provide best practice trainings to partner organisations, childcare professionals, caregivers, and religious leaders—to build their capacity to serve vulnerable children long term.
Help support Bethany’s work in Ghana
Our priority in Ghana is to keep children stable and safe with their family of origin. When that is not possible, we find local adoptive families who can provide a loving home.
