Gladys lost her husband eight years ago and has been forced to fend for her kids and that of her brother’s. She started selling ice cream to enable her to feed her family and pay their rent. She needed all the support available.

Justina also dropped out of school at the basic level and later got pregnant. Confused but still determined to achieve her dreams, she became an apprentice to a fashion designer. She has now completed her apprenticeship program and wish to have her own store to enable her work and take care of her son, Pablo.

In Ghana, like many developing countries, poverty and inequality are major challenges that affect families and communities. These can lead to social exclusion and the breakdown of families, causing a detrimental impact on the well-being and prosperity of individuals and communities.

Gladys and Justina are just two of fifty-five families who have received support from Bethany since the pandemic in 2020. We believe that investing in family preservation is essential for achieving social justice.

Our Family Preservation and Empowerment program places a strong emphasis on giving families the tools and resources they need to enhance their well-being and support them in overcoming obstacles. Families have access to Bethany's services for counseling and support as well as options for economic empowerment, healthcare, and educational prospects.

On this World Day of Social Justice, Bethany urges everyone to get involved and support initiatives that advance social justice and family preservation. To create a more inclusive and fair society where everyone has the chance to live happy and prosperous lives, it is crucial to invest in families and communities. We believe that by working together, we can provide everyone with a better future.

We also urge the government and other key players to increase funding for family preservation initiatives and to implement laws that would strengthen families. This will support social inclusion and everyone's well-being while assisting in the reduction of poverty and inequality.

Let's all pledge to work toward a society that is more equitable and inclusive, where families and communities are encouraged to enjoy happy and prosperous lives.
